‘I simply can't be critical of such a fun and inspiring piece of writing. It has direction and leaves you wanting more…’ Ainsley Harriott
"Thoroughly good read. Plenty of laughs along the way in this camping extravaganza through France. A great mix of characters all with their own idiosyncracies and hidden agendas. Full of amazing incidents and told in a light-hearted, roller-coaster fashion. Enjoy!" Tim Healy
The hilarious story of two families travelling through France for four weeks of camping. Their journey brings them into contact with a variety of situations illustrating the quirkier side of a country which, Denis, the hero, is passionately in love with. Denis is a Francophile. He loves the roads, he loves the food, its variety, and he loves the way it is eaten. He loves the pace of life, the empty spaces, the depth of culture and the Gaelic shrug; he just loves France big time. So now, he is off again to drink in its bounteous pleasures, a few weeks of indulgence out of a year of dreadful routine, general boredom, stress, strain, crap, and Christmas! Fairly squat, though not significantly overweight, Denis is conscious that without much effort he could be, and so attempts to subscribe to a regime of healthy natural foods and healthy living. Denis is, generally, the kind of person who does not expect a lot out of life, but just a little now and then. His romanticism however can sometimes be out of concert with the practicalities and realities of life.
Accompanied by long-suffering wife, Maisie, and companions ranging from jolly Jack the dribbling four-year-old, known affectionately as 'little fella', to Maurice, the elder statesman of the group, a dribbling 80-year-old, known respectfully as 'Granddad', who knows what excitement the next few weeks will bring? One thing is certain - life is not going to be dull!
Denis and his entourage can't wait to put up the final tent pole, flop into the canvas chair and raise a glass of vin rouge. If only life were that simple...

I was expecting to like this better, but the humor was a bit too broad for me. The characters were silly & so exaggerated. Fine, but I wouldn't waste my time.Product details
